Make your first impression clear
Your headline and the first lines of your description give families a quick introduction when they browse teachers. Put your subject, student level and teaching medium near the beginning, then explain the support you offer.
Build your profile in four steps
Draft your description first, then turn its strongest detail into a headline. Keep the focus on what a student or parent needs to know.
Introduce yourself
Start with a warm greeting and a little of your personality. Say which subjects and grades you teach, and whether your lessons are in Sinhala, Tamil or English. Mention online or in-person teaching where relevant.
Explain your teaching experience
Share relevant qualifications and experience in your own words, rather than pasting a CV. Name a relevant degree or teacher-training qualification and connect it to the subjects you teach. Be specific about the syllabus and student levels you know. If you’re new to teaching, describe your subject knowledge and the support you can offer honestly.
Connect your experience to lessons: concept explanations, past-paper practice, revision planning or feedback on mistakes.
Motivate potential students
Show how your approach supports the learner’s goals. Explain what lessons feel like and how you adapt to their current understanding. Speak to students and parents without promising grades or guaranteed results.
Write a clear, catchy headline
Choose one helpful differentiator, such as your teaching approach or relevant experience. A specific headline is more useful than “best tutor”. Keep it easy to scan and let the description carry the detail.
From vague to useful
These are illustrative examples, not templates to copy. Use only details that reflect your own teaching.
Description do’s and don’ts
Aim for a conversation, not a sales pitch. Families should leave your profile with a clear, honest picture of your teaching.

- My opening explains who I help and how my lessons support them.
- My qualifications and experience are accurate and relevant.
- My description uses short paragraphs and sounds like me.
